74251: East Quay, ‘house 8’

This was the home of fisherman Donald MacLeod, who had previously lived with his parents at ‘house 7’, following his marriage in 1877. Donald was involved in the struggle for land rights, and was later imprisoned for his role in the ‘Reef Incident’

The house later passed to his son John, also a fisherman. When John moved to Glenelg, it passed to Roderick Shaw.

Now known as East Quay, the property is referred to as ‘house 8’ Quay in the croft history of the area.
