69054: 2 Doune Carloway

The first tenant of this croft was Donald Mackenzie (1795-1873), Croir and 37 Newmarket; we do not know how long he stayed at Doune. The next tenant was John Smith (b1810) from 17 Callanish. When Doune was cleared in 1853, John moved to Garynahine and latterly to 40 Callanish.

Donald Macleod who came from Mangersta, Uig came to 2 Doune after resettlement but did not stay long as in 1875, he exchanged crofts with Donald Campbell, 1 Ungeshader who may originally have come from 1 Breasclete. The croft was sold to Alexander Maciver, 32 Knock.
