Angus Macleod was a son of Iain from Uig, Isle of Lewis. Aonghais Ruadh Macleod was said to have a family of four sons and two daughters. He was a brother of Iain Mor Ruadh, Scaladale and may have come to Kershader earlier than his brother went to Scaladale in Southern Park.

Before settling at 10 Kershader as a crofter Angus was a Tacksman, holding the land to the west end of Kershader known as "Gerraidh Gorm" or Green Pasture.
