57421: 5 Doune Carloway

The first tenant of this croft was Donald Buchanan (1773-1860) from Mealista, Uig. When Doune was cleared in 1853, Donald relocated to 6 Kneep, Uig. In the 1870s, Donald Macdonald from Mangersta settled on this croft which was passed on to his son John (1832-) and then to son Donald (1863-). After Donald’s death, the croft was split between his sons John, 5a Doune and Angus, 5b Doune.
