2149: Hacklete Farm
Hacklete farmhouse was situated where No 11 is today, and in 1851 it was occupied by the tacksman << 2153##Kenneth Stewart>>. By 1861 many members of this family had emigrated to Nova Scotia and Neil Macdonald "Niall a Chaolais", son of John Macdonald was the manager of the farm. In 1871 John his father was in residence. Hacklete ceased to be a farm in 1880 when the village was lotted.
