51537: Morsgail Side School

A small side-school was held in Morsgail when numbers merited, under the supervision of Lochcroistean School. The schoolrooms were above the stable.

According to tradition there was school in operation for the family of Kenneth Maciver (Coinneach Mor) and again for that of John Gunn, gamekeeper, who lived at Morsgail with four children before returning to his native Wick. The teacher at the time was Katie Ann MacPhail from Carloway who met Murchadh Dubh a’Chomhnard here and they later married.
