The Post Office in Bernera was run by members of the same family for over a hundred years. It was first situated in No.3 Breaclete, run by Donald Maciver and later, when his son John took over the running of the Office, it was relocated to No.1 Breaclete. When he retired it returned to No.3..

In the late 1980s it was moved to Viewfield at the village crossroads and latterly is located in the local shop.
