121359: HMS Laird’s Isle
The SS Riviera was a Cross-Channel Steamer built by William Denny and Brothers, Dumbarton in 1911. She was requisitioned by the Admiralty on August 11, 1914 and served in the First World War as HMS Riviera and converted to operate seaplanes.
In 1919 the ship was returned to service and reverted to SS Laird’s Isle. She was requisitioned in 1939 as HMS Laird’s Isle, served as an Armed Boarding Vessel and carried Landing Craft and Tanks on D-day.
