121154: HMS Western Isles
SS Batavier IV was a Passenger/Cargo ship built by Gourlay Brothers Co, Dundee in 1902 for Wm H Muller & Co, Batavier Line, Rotterdam.
In May 1940 the ship was chartered by the British Ministry of Transport and renamed HMS Eastern Isles. In March 1941 the ship was renamed HMS Western Isles and served in the Second World War as a flagship for the Western Approaches Command’s Anti-Submarine Training School at Tobermory.
HMS Western Isles was sold to the Royal Netherlands Navy in 1946 and renamed HRMS Zeearend. The vessel was sold for scrap in 1970.
