121129: SS Kanowna 115743

The SS Kanowna was a Passenger Steamship built in 1903 by W Denny & Bros Ltd, Dumbarton for the Australian Steam Navigation Co Ltd, Sydney. She served as a Troopship and Hospital Ship in the First World War.

On February 18, 1929 on passage from Cairns for Melbourne with a cargo worth £200,000.00 the SS Kanowna ran aground with no loss of  life. The ship was abandoned and drifted to deep water where it sank.
