The SS Nellore was a Passenger/Cargo Steamship built by J Caird & Co, Greenock in 1913 for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, London. She was sold in 1929 to the Eastern & Australian Steamship Co Ltd, London.
On passage from Bombay to Sydney on June 29, 1944, the SS Nellore was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of 79 lives.
