120801: SS Helenus (135519)
The SS Helenus was a Cargo Steamship built by Scott Shipbuilding and Engineering Co, Greenock in 1913 for the Blue Funnel Line – Ocean Steamship Co, Alfred Holt & Co Ltd, Liverpool.
On March 3, 1942 200 miles south of Freetown the SS Helenus was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of six lives.
