120732: RMS/HMS Laconia

The RMS Laconia was an Ocean Liner built by Swan Hunter Wallsend in 1911 for the Cunard Line. At the outbreak of the First World War RMS Laconia was requisitioned and was converted to an Armed Merchant Cruiser. She served in South Africa until 1916 when she was handed back to Cunard.

On February 29, 1917 the HMS Laconia was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of 12 lives.
