120416: MV / RFA Athelmonarch (149673)

The MV Athelmonarch was an Oil Tanker built by William Hamilton & Co, Port Glasgow in 1928 for United Molasses Co Ltd, London.

She was requisitioned by the Admiralty in 1939 and renamed RFA Athelmonarch. On June 5, 1943 the tanker was on passage from Beiruit to Lebananon and was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of four lives.
