The MV Opawa was a Motor Cargo Vessel built by Stephen & Sons, Glasgow in 1931 for the New Zealand Shipping Company.
On passage from Lyttleton to Halifax, on February 6, 1942, the MV Opawa was torpedoed and sunk 400 miles north east of Burmuda with the loss of 56 crew.
