119626: SS Ben Lomond (145193)

The SS Ben Lomond was a Steam Cargo Ship  built in 1922 at Irvine’s Shipbuilding and Drydock Co Ltd, Hartlepool for Furness Withy & Co.

The ship left Cape Town on 10th November 1942 heading for Paramaribo in Dutch Guiana. On the 23rd within six days of her destination, she was torpedoed by a German Submarine. There was only one survivor.
