Roderick (1877-1941) was a son of Donald Shaw and Catherine Morrison of 13 Ruisgarry (Sunhill). He became a yachtsman. His eldest child, Jemima, was born in 1903. Her mother was Sybla MacAskill of 10 Ruisgarry (Gunhill).
In Glasgow in 1911 Roderick married Catherine MacKillop of 11 Borve. The couple had eight children, making their home at 32 Backhill. Roderick was a yachtsman and seaman, serving in the Royal Naval Reserve during the First World War.
