67638: Roderick Ferguson

Roderick Ferguson was born about 1802, the son of Roderick Ferguson and Margaret MacLeod of old Ruisgarry. His father died when Roderick was a small child, and his mother re-married.

Roderick married Marion MacKillop, with whom he was to have eight children. He became a farmer in old Ruisgarry, before being removed to Borve, Harris in the 1840s. In 1854 the family returned to Berneray to live at 10 Ruisgarry (Gunhill). In later years Roderick also worked as a tailor.

Following Roderick’s death, the croft was passed to son Roderick.
