Roderick (born 1832) was a son of John Macmillan and Christina Kennedy, 11 Old Eishken.
In 1835 the family moved to 4b Old Lemreway. When Lemreway was cleared in 1843, the family were removed to 17 Crossbost.
In Lochs, in 1866, he married Henrietta Macleod from 39 Arnol. Roderick and Henrietta settled at 17 Crossbost and they had four children.
Roderick was widowed in 1875 and in 1879, in Carloway, married Catherine Macleod, 17 Garenin. Roderick and Catherine had two children and remained at 17 Crossbost
