Terms and Conditions
All the local history information on this site is drawn directly from the collections of the Comainn Eachdraidh (Historical Societies) of the communities of Uig, Bernera, Kinloch and Pairc on the Isle of Lewis. Much of the content is oral history, passed down in the community for generations, and is offered as such. For genealogical research, the site is best used in conjuction with other sources of statutory records such as www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.
Discrepancies may exist between our information and that available from other sources, and even between records on this website. This is in the nature of oral history records, and we present the information without interference to allow you to draw your own conclusions. Information is therefore used at your own risk and Hebridean Connections shall not be responsible for any losses or damage incurred through reliance on our content.
We try to ensure actual errors are corrected and will be pleased to receive further information from users of the site. The "Tell Us More" button on every record and photograph page will connect you directly to our inputting team. If you can provide further information about a family, place or event, please do let us know and your contribution will be included and credited.
Most of the archaeological information is courtesy of the Sites and Monuments Register, maintained by local authority, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. The information was included in the Hebridean Connections website in January 2006 and subsequent additions to the SMR may not be reflected. Local knowledge and speculation about archaeological remains have been added by the Comunn Eachdraidh, as have the photographs.
If you are researching your family history, the Comainn Eachdraidh are at your disposal to help with searches, photographs, maps, family trees and even guided visits. Please contact us for information and you will be put in touch with the relevant society.
Copyright for all images, text and recordings on this website remains with Hebridean Connections or the local Comunn Eachdraidh, except where noted otherwise. Material from this site may not be used in any form or for any purpose without express permission of the Hebridean Connections team. Where the copyright is held locally, digital or print images may be available to purchase. Please contact us.
Every effort has been made to establish the copyright holders of the Content, but this has not always been possible. If you believe an image is being used without permission, please contact us.
